What can we expect from esports in 2021?
This year it caught us by surprise and many of us are grateful that 2020 is slowly coming to an end.
Let’s take a look at the predictions that involve what may happen, as well as what players can expect in the not too distant future.
MOBILE GAMES WILL INCREASE THEIR TREND
It is inevitable that mobile games are here to stay and we have been watching this for quite some time.
That is why most developers are increasingly focusing on developing downloadable applications for operating systems like Android and iOS. This is due to a fairly clear demographic change, since studies show that users now access their favorite platforms while they are away from home.
VIRTUAL REALITY PLAYS AN IMPORTANT ROLE
As the most popular games are beginning to take advantage of the opportunities that virtual reality (VR) can provide to gamers. This is a result of not only ever-advancing direct software, but the devices themselves are becoming much smaller and more ergonomic.
The other point to note is that the prices of well-known VR headsets like the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift are now much more affordable. These changes are expected to open up a completely new market for the increased use of virtual reality.
LARGE COMPANIES SUPPORTING ELECTRONIC SPORTS
More and more companies are encouraged to call electronic sports competitors and this is because every time we find more professionalized competitions and clubs, with structures that have nothing to envy to those of tournaments and traditional sports equipment. In fact, a high-profile esports competitor will star in a global Nike commercial. “In terms of audience, esports in general are already on par with golf. Since Nike has already had commercials featuring golf professionals, including Tiger Woods and Rory McElroy, we expect the company to feature a major sports athlete in a commercial by 2021, ”the company notes.
THE GLOBAL GAMES OF ELECTRONIC SPORTS
The Global Federation of esports looks to the future and prepares for 2021 with its international flagship event. The Board of the Global Federation of electronic sports confirmed that its event, the Global Esports Games (GEG), will be held for the first time in December 2021.
“The Global Esports Games serve as a platform to showcase the world’s best athletes, players, industry partners, brands, innovations and the responsible use of technology in electronic sports.” Said Chris Chan, president of the Global Esports Federation.
We conclude that esports are forecast to perform vastly better in 2021 and we only expect good things from them.
